Cerner teeters on brink of success
Could Cerner be on the brink of big success in the NHS? A week ago they went live at Newcastle NHS Foundation Trust. Sceptics may say big deal, but this one really counts. It’s a huge trust, 12,500 staff and 5 hospitals, with ambitions to grow. It’s a huge go live - there were over a 1,000 users on day one. The trust is taking a more advanced version of Cerner Millennium than the cut back version that’s been provided to trusts under the NHS IT Programme.
Finally, it’s the first Cerner go live led by University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC) in the NHS, and happened within a couple of months of when it was meant to. Next up UPMC tackles Royal Berkshire. http://bit.ly/1hgT9w
Shifting to London and it looks as though a solid implementation of Cerner will happen at Kingston by 30 November, without the hospital plunging into crisis. http://bit.ly/He1ZM Again this is a whole hospital switching to the system not a couple of physios or staff on a couple of wards. http://bit.ly/1NeXte
At this rate they’ll be on a roll…
